I love the word ‘Found’. Being ‘found’ means that someone came looking for me. It means that someone cared enough to make the finding of me a mission. For me, it is safety, love, comfort, warmth, hot chocolate, and log fires.
Being found is being taken from something bad to something good. It is a journey from darkness to light; traveling from a world of grey to a dazzling world of saturated colour. It is the joy in finding something that I considered lost and had grieved for….and then…I FOUND it!
Being FOUND is very different to being FOUND OUT! I still remember as a 9 year old crouching below my bedroom window…peering through as my Mum investigated the suspicious smell coming from under my bed. I remember that sick feeling as I watched her find the months old, moldy school sandwiches I had stashed after promising to eat them. I also remember the spanking that ensued! In my defence, grated carrot and peanut butter sandwiches…I mean…seriously! So, I KNOW that being found out is an entirely different matter.
God found me when I was 8. Since that time I have been exploring what it means to be truly ‘found’. To be intimately known…and still loved!
In the case of the album, ‘Found’ was the last piece of the puzzle. The songs are a journey, so I wanted to start it in a way that set up that journey. I loved the idea of a stylized orchestra-warming-up sound…and the phrase that kept repeating in my mind was ‘You have found me’. I did a version with vocals, which I liked, but in the end the instrumental version won out.
I wanted to convey the start of an adventure, the realization that we have been found and can move with confidence in the knowledge that we are part of the dance of life, made in the image of a Creator who loves to give good things to His kids.
Stay tuned for next weeks blog....Who is Like You?...and I challenge you to have a different beverage...maybe add a biscuit!
